In Nazaré, big wave surfing is a team sport, whatever the rivalry: total trust in mutual dependence. The series shows the training, the technology and the quiet heroes who provide the greatest possible safety. And it follows me on my way to surf the biggest wave in the world through teamwork.

“8 or 80” is an old Portuguese saying about the way of life in Nazaré: tension, but never escalation and never black-and-white thinking. It also stands for the range there: waves from 8 to 80 feet, speeds of up to 80 km/h, people of every age.
